auction system and quality: the more the ad is relevant for

the user, the higher the price per click will be low and the

announcement highlighted. This is to encourage advertisers?

provide relevant information from? the user request.

Operation [edit]

When a user uses Google, two lists of results, not one, are

viewing the results of the search engine itself, classified

according to "objective" criteria (see Googlebot and the

PageRank system) and later, the results from the AdWords

program, that is to say all advertisements. Google Finance

search engine with what companies pay him to buy keywords

used for AdWords.

With AdWords ads are displayed:

     * On the Google search pages (if you type the keyword

"car", targeted advertising for cars appear).
     * On the pages of Google's partners (AOL, Free,

Amazon, etc.)..
     * On personal sites (with AdSense: Google runs Mediabot

with your site, and if your personal site talking car, targeted

advertising for cars appear and Google pays you a percentage

of the click paid by the advertiser who sells cars and if your

site critical for fast-food restaurants, you will also receive

advertisements extolling the merits of any burger).
     * On Gmail (with AdSense: you say by email to a friend

that you are looking for a car, targeted advertising for cars

appear, targeting occurs automatically and no human reads

your mail).

This ad is very effective because it can target users based

on research carried out. It remains to be seen on one hand

and the relationship between the probability that type a

keyword and click on one of advertising, and partly from the

fact to click on advertising then to buy product. It is possible

also to divert AdSense (click fraud), while advertising

themselves could pay sites Paid to click, where they offered

to people to earn money by clicking on ads ( expectation that

these people would then buy their products, although their

primary motive is to earn money, not to spend).
Classifieds and Gmail [edit]

Mail Gmail users is analyzed by a robot and advertisements

are added next to the messages based on their content.

Thus, a letter referring to "courts" and "TD" or "teacher"

will be accompanied by advertising sites for school support,

rather than an advertisement for a completely different

subject.
How to block AdWords advertising [edit]

There are systems to block Internet ads, like Adblock, which

works with the Mozilla browser. With this "addon" (an

extension that adds new features to the browser), you can

subscribe to a "list" (French, American etc..) Blocking a large

number of advertising formats (images, animations, Google

Adwords), which you can add any type of image file that you

no longer want to see on your screen.
Cases [edit]

Several brands have filed lawsuits against Google in France,

saying he had no right to sell keywords that contain the

names of these brands to third parties. Indeed, this may

result to the next mark, which appears among search results,

other brands, or counterfeits are posted by the AdWords

program. In 2006, the Court of Appeal of Paris has ordered

Google to pay 300 000 euros in damages to Louis Vuitton [1].

Google has appealed and the Supreme Court has asked the

European Court of Justice (ECJ) an opinion on the subject

[2].

The latter responded in September 2009, through its

Advocate General Poiares Maduro, that Google had the right

to sell these keywords and the posting advertisements does

not constitute an infringement. According to the statement of

the ECJ:

"Internet users are aware that the site of the trade

mark owner will not only emerge in response to a search on

the search engine Google and they can sometimes not be

looking for this site. (...) Trademark rights can not be

understood as property rights for traditional owners to

exclude any other use. (...) He believes that instead of being

able to prevent, through the protection of the mark, all

conceivable use - including many legitimate uses and even

desirable - the brand owners should focus on specific cases

may incur liability under Google unduly harm caused to their

brands. "[3]
